Retail opportunity

When I told him that there is a vacant retail opportunity in Plumstead High Street, my son-in-law (who works for Waitrose), informed me that his management do not consider this area to be, “prime Waitrose heartland”. "Poor show", said I. What do they know of the popular culture and current buzz happening right now in this area? Afterall, we now have a Boots the Chemist in the High Street – whatever next! So come on Waitrose, pip Iceland to the post and open up an urban deli for the good souls of Plumstead, you know it makes sense. Pass the asparagus and couscous salade.

it is bizarre that there is not even a Waitrose in Blackheath or Greenwich, I go to CW for my Waitrose outing. If Woolwich can get itself a Costa and Starbucks I'm sure Plumstead could rustle somthing up. What retailers dont realise is that because there is such a lack of competition in the local area anything that did open up would be innundated.
Can you imagine how busy a Costa/Starbucks in Plumstead would be? All I read about on various blogs are the amount of local Mothers with babies and toddlers who all frequent Greenwich Park and Blackheath, there are more than enough people who would use these facilities on a regular basis and I find it incomprehensible that there is nothing local to offer a service to people who have disposable income. All we are doing is fueling the economy of other urban areas. So come on Plumstead - high street or in the dip get something opened up. It is a gold mine waiting to happen.

Totally agree. Aren't there any unemployed baristas out there waiting for a business opportunity? Come to think of it, now that I'm "resting" perhaps I should get busy with the cakes and coffee. Anyone got any spare dosh for a local investment?

Perhaps your son-in-law should check out just how many Ocado vans deliver to the area - he might just change his mind about whether there is a market here for Waitrose.

Yes I am an Ocado lady! Am praying that Shell will team up with someone like BP and M&S did and that it will be Waitrose. A small Waitrose cum petrol station would get a daily visit from me!
